We were bowled over when we were contacted by the organisers of The National Pub & Bar Awards to be told that The Dog at Wingham had been selected as the County Winner for Kent! The Dog is now in the running for the South East region award and for the National prize too! The 2017 County Winners have been selected around multiple marks of quality, assessing every element that goes into making a hospitality experience truly excellent. “This is an industry that never stands still – the operators of the best pubs know that they have to be at the top of their game 100% of the time,” says Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine. “Our 94 County Winners are shining examples of that energy and creativity. They are what makes the pubs and bars of the UK so renowned. Congratulations to all of the finalists.” Huge thanks to our incredible guests and especially to our terrific team of staff that work tirelessly to make The Dog the best pub in Kent! We will keep you posted after the Awards ceremony at the BAFTA Theatre on 23/05/2017. Best, Marc Read more about the Awards: The National Pub & Bar Awards 2017 Announcement Kent Live Article
Royal Ascot is Britain’s most valuable race meeting, attracting many of the world’s finest racehorses to compete for more than £6.58milllion in prize money. Our eighteen Group races, eight of them in Group One, have made legends of the finest thoroughbreds. Black Caviar, Frankel, Yeats – all are Royal Ascot winners turned household names. In 2013, The Queen watched her horse, Estimate, triumph in the Gold Cup. A dedicated racehorse owner, she has attended every Royal Meeting during her reign and the Royal Procession is always an iconic moment to herald the start of every raceday. Anticipated and revered, these five days are made for socialising. Long seen as a spectacle of fashion and style, they are referenced the world over. Each year the meeting is broadcast to audiences around the globe, yet to experience it in person is something altogether more special. (more…)

Earth's maximum axial tilt toward the Sun is 23° 26′. This happens twice each year (once in each hemisphere), at which times the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky as seen from the north or the south pole. (more…)

On June 14th 2016 the Tilley-Bridgens took ownership of The Dog Inn, Wingham, Kent. Shaun Tilley, his wife Marilyn Bridgen and her son's Marc & Oliver acquired their first Inn with great excitement, trepidation and aspiration in equal measures. Shaun was tasked with repairing and rebuilding the old inn to make it safe and sound and to keep it standing. Marilyn then set to work with her magic interior design wand to make the place beautiful. Marc & Oliver set about pulling together the people, systems and suppliers that would get the place operating.
